The Start
Several ideas have come together to create my artistic path forward. I started a project that I call “Common Ground: Befriending Fire.” The purpose is to create a series of artworks to facilitate understanding of complex issues surrounding forest management, especially forest fires and old growth ecosystems.
I aim to create beautiful paintings of forests inspired by specific places, traditions, and communities. Seeking common ground on issues using real life experiences, seeking knowledge from scientists, tribes with cultural burning practices, and forest service personnel has already started. I have found that it is delightful to surround myself with people who have more knowledge than I do.
I look forward to input from people with diverse ideas and backgrounds. With the caveat that things will be said respectfully, or will be dismissed. Other than that, all view points are welcome.
