I received 3 photographs of this arch, but none of the complete arch. I realized what had happened – what we can see with our eyes is not always what we can capture with a camera. The joy of painting is that you can reach that goal. I assembled the photos together and painted this arch. I sent a photo of my painting back to the photographer, who was still out on the trail and got one of my favorite messages back, “Yes! That was the photo I was trying to take!”
